Every year, during the June Summer Museum Night, we celebrate the anniversary of the opening of our beautiful space in the heritage-listed building in Šiška on Celovška 111 (next to Kino Šiška). This year, we enhanced our traditional open house with a Retro Market, aiming to revive a practice that was once completely commonplace. Back in the day, we often bought computer software, particularly cassette tapes with various games for our Commodores and Spectrums, directly from the “pirates” at flea markets. Today, such sales, and even more frequently exchanges of used computer equipment, mostly occur among passionate collectors at markets. The Retro Gaming Buy/Sell/Trade event, organized by the collectors’ community, took place in the style of a flea market (“Buy/Sell/Trade Event”) in front of the museum. In this way, we revived and simultaneously introduced younger generations to a practice that no longer exists today, but was once one of the most powerful distribution phenomena associated with the widespread adoption of computers.
Opening hours: Thursday and Friday 16:00-20:00, Saturday 10:00-16:00. Closed on Sundays and all public holidays.
