In June Igor reached out to us with the following words: “I firmly believe that technology, especially in the realm of computing, has the power to shape our world and influence the way we live, work, and connect with others. Računalniški muzej’s dedication to preserving the history and educating the public about the advancements in computing aligns perfectly with my own interests and values.
Although I understand that Računalniški muzej is not currently actively seeking volunteers, I am genuinely enthusiastic about contributing my skills and expertise to assist your organization remotely.”
Since then he has been a valuable member of our communication team and has contributed to project managment as well as both our online public presentation, and the presentation of our collection inventory. After months of fruitful collaboration, his path took him from his home in Serbia to Ljubljana this week and we were able to meet in person for the first time. We excitedly showed him around and he spent several hours in engaged discussion, meeting other team members, he only knew from online correspondence, along the way, as they were coming in to conduct kids coding classes or organize meetups. He even hunted down some delicacies he kindly donated to our growing collection. It was great to have him here for the first time and we hope it is not the last. In the mean time, we’re back to our usual everyday online team space communication, he just has a few more faces to go with nicknames and he had a chance to breathe-in the museum air. If you see yourself volunteering remotely, do drop us a line, we’d love to hear from you.
